2026 Celebrating the 250th anniversary
of US independence
Good reason for all Americans to whoop it up?
Will Hopi, Lakota, Navajo etc. also enjoy a cup?
550 tribes are officially recognized
From government strictly supervised
Also called ‚First Nations‘ in Canada
Also called ‚Native Americans‘ in USA
Some people call this ‚disrespectful‘
and under the line ’neglectful‘
For some it might not really sound cool
Freedom is at the heart of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence. But do all US citizens understand it in the same way, and what might it mean for the descendants of the people who originally lived here?
Native American groups are officially recognized by the government. They possess internal autonomy in many areas, manage their own reservations, and cultivate a strong, renewed sense of self-confidence.
